This article describes the special procedures to remotely upgrade the Liso firmware from Evoko Home which is required by certain versions prior to v1.35.
In version 1.35, the remote update and the checksum verification processes were reworked for better reliability and security. To make sure brand new Liso devices which usually ship with firmware version 1.21 can be remotely updated a legacy compatibility mode was added to Evoko Home, starting with version 1.36.
We strongly recommend to always run matching version numbers of Evoko Home software and Liso firmware.

Remote update from firmware v1.21
This typically applies to brand new Liso devices which come with v1.21 firmware out of the box.
When connecting a Liso with firmware v1.21 to Evoko Home v1.36 or newer please disable "Legacy API authentication" from global settings in Evoko Home before connecting the Liso. Otherwise the Liso will not be able to reach Evoko Home.
If Legacy API authentication is disabled after a v1.21 Liso is connected to Evoko Home, the Liso will appear on Monitoring page of Evoko Home but update will not be possible. In this case please reboot the Liso device.
A Liso with firmware v1.21 that is connected to Evoko Home v1.36 or later will appear Offline on the Monitoring page once per minute, then appear online again after few seconds. This is due to the legacy compatibility mode. This also means that during the remote update status notifications will disappear after the first offline/online cycle, but the remote update will continue.
Step by step instructions to update firmware from v1.21:
- Make sure Evoko Home 1.36 or later is installed. If not, update Evoko Home.
- In Evoko Home, edit the Global settings and disable the Legacy API authentication.
- Connect the Liso(s) to Evoko Home by entering the server IP and port on the Liso screen.
- In Evoko Home, go to the Monitoring tab and perform a remote update. Detailed instructions for the remote update process are available in this article: How do I update the firmware on an Evoko Liso.
Remote update from firmware versions v1.22-v1.34 to v1.35 or newer.
If you have Liso devices with a firmware version other than 1.21, this usually means you already have them installed and running in an environment that needs to be updated.
The recommended procedure to update from versions other than 1.21 to a recent version is to first perform the remote update on all of the Lisos, and then update Evoko Home.

If any of the Liso devices fail to remote update you can try again, which usually works. If remote update still fails, we recommend switching to a manual update using a USB flash drive. Updating via USB can be done before or after updating Evoko Home. Instructions for a USB update is available in this article: Update Liso firmware using USB.
Remote update from firmware versions 1.35 or newer
The remote update process is fully compatible for versions 1.35 and later so if Evoko Home and all devices are on 1.35 or later the order in which you update (Evoko Home or Lisos first) does not matter. Just follow the instructions in the support articles How do I update Evoko Home and/or How do I update the firmware on an Evoko Liso.
